Getting started

Exclusive player ownership

A real rugby player can belong to only one manager in a DraftXV league.

Every squad in a league is different. Unowned players are either available as free agents or temporarily held on waivers, so the player pool keeps changing throughout the season.

League setup

Join an existing league or create one with the format your group wants.

Commissioners choose the competition, league visibility, membership settings, and draft date. Draft creation requires at least six active managers; supported larger league sizes continue to work normally.

Your first week

Draft, prepare, claim, process, play, then settle.

These stages are a memory aid, not six fixed deadlines. Free-agent and waiver windows can overlap with lineup preparation, so trust the exact status and player times shown in your league.

  1. Draft completes and the league activates.
  2. Set each player before that player's real-team kickoff.
  3. Use immediate free agency when it is open, or submit private claims before the displayed deadline.
  4. Waiver processing validates claims and moves a winner's league waiver rank only when another valid manager also claimed that player.
  5. Treat live match points as provisional.
  6. Wait for the final provider refresh during the round-processing run scheduled for Monday at 12:00 UTC.
  7. Review any automatic substitutions and matchup result.
  8. After successful round processing, that fantasy round is final and is not recomputed.

Draft order and turns

Snake draft order

The order reverses after each standard round.

In a six-manager example, round one runs A to F and round two runs F to A. Manager F therefore makes picks 6 and 7 back-to-back.

Draft completion

The final valid pick triggers automatic finalization.

DraftXV creates ownership, free-agent, lineup, league, and schedule state together. The commissioner's Complete Draft control is a safe recovery action if automatic finalization needs a retry.

Watchlists, timers, and auto-pick

Turns, timers, and auto-pick

In a standard draft the server clock keeps running until a pick is made or the draft pauses.

Eligible means an active, positioned player in this season's draft pool who is still unowned in the league. It does not mean the player must fill a particular lineup position during the draft. When time expires, DraftXV tries the manager's first eligible watchlist player, then the highest-ranked eligible player. An administrator can pause the room; exceptional pool or configured disconnect conditions can pause it too.

  1. Add several eligible players to your watchlist so it is also a convenient shortlist when picking manually.
  2. Put your preferred choice first.
  3. Keep the draft room open and watch the server countdown.

Watchlists and draft controls

Your private watchlist is your ordered fallback for a timed turn.

Other managers cannot see it, and you can also use it as a convenient shortlist for manual picks. Commissioners can start, pause, resume, undo the latest pick, force an auto-pick, cancel an unfinished room, or safely retry finalization. Those actions still enforce the current turn, player eligibility and availability, exclusive ownership, roster capacity, and draft state. Opening the Force Auto-Pick confirmation does not pause the clock; if the turn changes before confirmation, the stale action safely does nothing.

Waivers, free agents, and claim ordering

Why waivers exist

Waivers create fair claim periods around the game week and team announcements.

Managers submit private claims before the visible deadline, then valid league waiver rank resolves competition for the same player. Between waiver periods, eligible free agents are still first come, first served.

League waiver rank

Lower numeric league waiver rank is considered first; only a contested valid win moves the winner to the back.

A claim is contested when two or more managers still have valid claims for the same player at resolution. The winner then moves to the back of the league waiver rank. An uncontested winner keeps their rank, and an invalid leading claim does not block the next valid claimant.

Personal claim order

League waiver rank and your personal claim order answer different questions.

League waiver rank decides which manager wins a contested player. In the same standard batch, your personal order decides which of your own due moves is tried first after league waiver rank.

Waivers and free agents

A waiver waits for resolution; an eligible free-agent move commits immediately while the league window is open.

A dropped player may stay on waivers until a personal deadline even while other free agents are immediately available. If league waivers are disabled, valid free-agent moves remain immediate.

Lineups and player locks

Lineup kickoff locks

Each player locks at that player's real-team kickoff.

The first fixture does not lock the whole squad. An early-fixture player can be locked while a later-fixture or bye player remains editable until its own boundary.

Scoring and finalization

Provisional and settled scoring

Live points are useful, but provisional.

Provider updates continue until the round-processing run scheduled for Monday at 12:00 UTC. That run performs a final provider refresh, computes the fantasy round once, and makes its scores and matchups final. A completed round is not recomputed later.

Playoffs and League Average

Head-to-head league rounds lead into playoffs, while odd leagues use League Average as a matchup opponent.

League Average never drafts or owns players. It fills only the unmatched side of an odd league's schedule and scores from the mean of real managers for that round.

Trades

Trades

Trades move players only after every ownership, lock, capacity, and approval check succeeds.

Managers can offer uneven multi-player trades, counter, reject, cancel, and choose an expiry. A trade can become invalid if a listed player changes squad, a required drop is no longer owned or unlocked, membership or transaction locks change, or either roster would exceed capacity. Acceptance rechecks everything and leaves ownership unchanged when invalid, so managers can refresh, correct the offer, and send a new one.

Commissioner and league settings

Commissioner and league settings

Commissioner controls are recovery and governance tools, not shortcuts around league rules.

Commissioners manage draft interruptions and optional trade approval, but cannot bypass ownership, roster capacity, player kickoff locks, or transaction locks.

Keeper leagues

Keeper behavior is commissioner depth and does not always follow a standard snake round.

A keeper league is intended to let managers retain selected players into a later season instead of redrafting every squad from scratch. First-season keeper leagues with no declarations can draft normally. Renewed drafts with declared or locked keepers currently stop before creation until retained-pick support is complete.

Pro, billing, and account support

Pro, billing, and account support

The core game is free; Pro adds optional tools and analysis.

Pro can add cross-league matchup views, player ownership and transaction trends, waiver popularity, live matchup event detail, fixture-status insights, and paid keeper controls. Availability depends on the current plan and account state, so use the signed-in Pro and account pages for the live feature list, regional price, subscription management, purchase restore, and support.

Troubleshooting

Refresh authoritative HTTP views once before repeating an ambiguous action.

Draft, ownership, claim, trade, lineup, and score state can change in another tab or server process. Reload the affected view, read the current status, and contact support with non-sensitive IDs and the visible error if it still disagrees.

Frequently asked questions

Why do snake drafts reverse?
Reversing the order balances an early pick with a later second pick. In a six-manager draft, the manager who picks sixth also opens round two with pick seven.
I picked last. When do I pick again?
At the turn of a standard snake, you pick again immediately. In the six-manager example, Manager F makes picks 6 and 7 back-to-back.
What happens if I miss my turn?
When the standard timer expires, DraftXV tries your first eligible available watchlist player, then the highest-ranked eligible available player. The room may pause instead if an exceptional configured condition applies.
Why do waivers exist?
Waiver periods give every manager time to react after the game week and around team announcements before league waiver rank resolves a contested player. When free agency is open between those periods, eligible moves are first come, first served.
Why did another manager get the player?
If both claims were valid, the manager with the lower numeric league waiver rank was considered first. A claim can also become invalid if membership, ownership, locks, capacity, or the selected players change before processing.
What is the difference between league waiver rank and my claim order?
League waiver rank compares managers competing for a player. Your claim order ranks your own due moves within the same standard batch; it does not improve your league waiver rank.
What is the difference between a waiver player and a free agent?
A waiver player waits for a deadline and priority resolution. An eligible free agent can be added immediately while the league's free-agent window is open.
When should I submit claims, and when do they process?
Submit before the exact deadline shown in your league. The configured global cycle processes Monday at 19:00 UTC and Friday at 14:00 UTC and locks Thursday at 11:00 UTC. A dropped player normally has a 24-hour window, extended to the next applicable processing run when needed and capped 20 minutes before their next real kickoff.
When does my lineup lock?
Each player locks when that player's real team kicks off. Later-fixture players remain editable, and bye players remain editable until the round closes.
Can a score change after round processing?
No. Provider updates can change provisional points until the round-processing run scheduled for Monday at 12:00 UTC. After that run succeeds, the fantasy result is final and is not recomputed. A safe retry may finish an incomplete run, but it cannot replace a completed result.
